The Grocer shortlists RELEX for two gold awards

May 11, 2015 2 min

Supply Chain Solutions Provider, RELEX Solutions, has been shortlisted in two categories at the Grocer Gold Awards. This follows the recent announcement that RELEX has also been shortlisted for three awards at this year’s BT Retail Week Tech & Ecomm Awards.

The Grocer Gold Awards recognise the best of the best in grocery retail for service, initiative and commitment, and showcase the most successful innovations throughout the last year in this fast-moving industry.

RELEX has been shortlisted in the ‘Technology Supplier of the Year’ award and jointly shortlisted in the ‘The Business Initiative of the Year’ award with its customer Booths.

Booths is the UK’s leading regional supermarket and it set out to develop a more efficient supply chain in order to further enhance its reputation for quality, improve its offering to customers and increase its profitability.

The supermarket selected RELEX, as it wanted a forecasting and replenishment system that could tackle a complex supply chain. An integral part of this is ensuring that perishable and short shelf life products are at their freshest but also that the amount of spoilage is reduced.

RELEX’s system provides supply chain planning optimisation in especially challenging situations, such as new stock allocations, product ramp ups and ramp downs, seasonality and promotions.

The company demonstrated both a deep knowledge of retail supply chain management; a rich technology platform based on in-memory computing that is designed to offer speed, agility and performance; and offered a commercial model that minimised Booths’ investment risks and allowed the two organisations to work closely together to meet shared objectives.

The partnership with RELEX was about two teams functioning, as far as possible, as one and, with the help of RELEX, Booths developed innovative solutions tailored to their individual needs and goals and creating significant business benefits. Spoilage was cut by 20% in the most complex of areas and RELEX and Booths achieved 95% availability across all product categories in most stores.

The five nominations from The Grocer and BT Retail Week reflect RELEX’s growing reputation within the supply chain industry and the proven results it is helping its clients achieve.

Mikko Kärkkäinen, Group CEO, RELEX comments, “We are proud to have been shortlisted for the two categories in The Grocer Gold Awards 2015. To have Booths’ achievements recognised by these awards is a great accolade.”

The Grocer Gold Awards will be held on Tuesday 9th June 2015.
