Job Description – Space & Assortment Consultant

Reports to: Head of Delivery, RELEX

Based at: RELEX office in Melbourne

Job purpose: To implement RELEX’s suite of systems and guide customers in their day to day use of RELEX Solutions mainly in the area of Space and Assortment.

Employment type: Permanent, full-time

About the position:

We are looking for a full-time Space & Assortment Consultant to join our RELEX family in Australia. You’ll join the Project Delivery team, who will help you to succeed in your new role. Together with the team, you will help the customers to achieve their business objectives by getting the best from the RELEX Solutions.

Your main responsibilities are about offering expert business support and developing new functionalities through configuration.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Become an expert of the RELEX Solutions and share this expertise with customers on a continuous basis
  • Review the solution design architecture together with Senior Consultants
  • Configure the RELEX solutions based on the agreed design and RELEX Best Practices always assessing the optimal models to yield business benefit
  • Constantly align with the Project Manager about progress status of current activities
  • Carry out qualitative & quantitative analysis on customer planning environments (e.g. KPI)
  • Managing and participating in consultancy, data analysis and software implementation projects. Tasks include:
    • Attending or leading process development workshops
    • Analysing data and KPI’s
    • Presenting findings and results to customers (both to operative and to management level)
    • Configuring RELEX tools according to customer specifications
    • Educating and training customers to use RELEX tools
    • Providing user support for customers
  • Liaise with the Head of Delivery and the consultants in the team to size-up projects and minor development effort and timelines
  • Participating and supporting sales process as a product / space and assortment specialist
  • In smaller projects/minor development you may take up a basic project manager role

Key requirements:

  • Experience of space planning and category management OR
  • Experience in assortment planning, floor planning, planogram execution, space optimization, store operations and category development
  • Experience with a grocery / CPG / FMCG retailer or supplier
  • Good communication skills in native language and fluent in English
  • Capability to confidently interact with customer teams
  • Strong analytical skills and true passion for problem-solving
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize tasks and work autonomously
  • Ability to understand Space and Assortment customer requirements and translate those into software configuration
  • Strong teamwork capability
  • Unquestionable work ethic

What we consider a strong plus:

  • Previous work experience with other Space and Assortment or Retail Planning tools
  • Internships, placements or work experience in CPG/Retail merchandising or supply chain fields
  • Knowledge and ability learn/understand one or more programming and query language (e.g. SQL, JSON, Ruby, Python, R, Excel Macros, etc.)
  • Fluency in Mandarin, Cantonese, Thai, Vietnamese and/or Japanese is a significant bonus
  • Self-starter approach to taking on new challenges and expanding your horizons
