Dozens of the UK’s top supply chain managers gathered at the Finnish Ambassador’s residence in London last Thursday, October 4th, to find out first-hand what RELEX can do for their companies.
- Supply Chain Innovations Managing Director, Mikko Kärkkäinen, RELEX
- Key issues and lessons in grocery replenishment automation Planning Manager, Lauri Loikkanen, Tuko Logistics
- Replenishment Planning in Rautakesko Logistics Director, Olli Salmivaara, Rautakesko
His Excellency Pekka Huhtaniemi welcomed representatives of some of Britain’s best known companies including Carphone Warehouse, Ocado, Sainsbury, Marks and Spencer, Boots and TopShop, to a short series of talks by RELEX’s co-founder and Managing Director, Mikko Kärkkäinen, and two of our leading customers.
Mikko opened the seminar with a few words about what RELEX can offer; our ‘try before you commit’ approach, our rapid implementation, our highly successful demand forecasting and our full range of tools for supply chain optimisation.
Lauri Loikkanen, the Planning Manager of Tuko Logistics then led the audience through his experiences implementing RELEX systems for Tuko’s customers, notably Stockmann, Finland’s leading chain of department stores. Lauri explained how in barely a couple of months Stockmann had slashed its fresh produce spoilage by 40%, pushed shelf availability over 99% and at the same time reduced its inventory significantly.
Finally Olli Salmivaara set out the gains made by the fifth largest hardware and DIY group in Europe through using RELEX systems. The group cut inventory by more than a quarter while significantly increasing stock turnover and, at the same time, was able to redeploy a significant number of staff from its buying operation thanks to RELEX’s automation of much of its re-ordering.
After the talks there was plenty more talking over canapés and drinks in the Ambassador’s garden overlooking Kensington Palace.
