Curious Minds, Real Impact: Internship Experience at RELEX

Nov 7, 2025 4 min

At RELEX, internships aren’t about watching from the sidelines. They’re about solving real problems, learning fast, and realizing you might actually enjoy what you’re doing.

That’s what happened to Natalia Posada and Astha Sharma, two former Supply Chain Analyst Interns who started their journeys at the Georgia Tech career fair and now work as full-time consultants in our Atlanta office.

Both were looking for a role that combined supply chain, data, and problem-solving. Both found something more – a place that trusted them to take ownership early and supported them while they figured things out.

The Beginning

Natalia first spotted RELEX in the list of attending companies at the Georgia Tech Supply Chain career fair.

“I liked that it combined my interest in supply chain with consulting in the tech industry,” she said. “It felt like many opportunities in one – and with consulting being project-based, I’d always be learning something new.”

Astha’s story started at the same fair.

“It stood out to me because it combined everything I was interested in – supply chain, technology, and forecasting,” she recalled. “I liked the idea of working in a project-based environment where I’d get to take on new challenges and learn something different every time.”

Both joined RELEX with plenty of curiosity, and a bit of uncertainty. Natalia initially worried about the ‘machine learning’ aspect of her internship, as she had no prior experience with it. However, she quickly discovered that RELEX focuses on leveraging advanced software and machine learning tools to address real customer challenges, rather than solely coding algorithms.

Hands-On from Day One

Neither of them expected to be trusted with full projects right away.

“Honestly, I expected to have a typical intern role, doing smaller tasks or helping someone with parts of a project,” Astha said. “But at RELEX, I was given a full proof of concept to work on by myself. I loved that level of trust and independence.”

Natalia’s summer was equally full-on. She implemented machine learning forecasts for existing customers, showing how much the new models could improve accuracy compared with their current setup.

Her work had measurable impact.

“Towards the end of my first proof of concept, I ran simulations to show how replenishment would have looked if the customer had used the machine learning forecast,” she said. “That let me quantify improvements in availability, inventory cost, and potential lost sales. Seeing those results made it all real.”

Learning in a Culture of Openness

What stood out most to both interns wasn’t just the work, it was the culture.

“I was shocked at how flat everything felt – in the best way possible,” Natalia said. “No assigned seats, casual dress, and open conversations. As an intern, I could be sitting next to a senior consultant and talk as peers.”

“The first thing I noticed was how kind and helpful everyone was,” Astha added. “No matter how busy people were, they took the time to explain things or offer support. It made me feel like part of the team from day one.”

Their learning curves were steep, but never lonely. Natalia met weekly with her mentor, got guidance from subject-matter experts, and used RELEX’s internal AI, Rebot, to make sense of technical concepts. Astha’s manager encouraged her to take ownership while always being available when she needed direction.

From Interns to Consultants

After their internships, both women returned to RELEX full-time, and quickly began leading their own projects.

“The internship was a great introduction to configuring machine learning forecasts, the piece with the steepest learning curve,” said Natalia. “Now, that’s one of the areas I focus on most.”

“The internship set me up for success,” said Astha. “It gave me hands-on experience with the platform and taught me how to solve problems in a structured way. I use those skills every day now.”

They also learned that being a consultant isn’t just about technical skills. Communication, teamwork, and self-advocacy matter just as much.

“You have to be your own advocate,” Natalia said. “Your manager can’t help you grow if they don’t know what you’re working on or struggling with. It can feel uncomfortable at first, but it’s worth it.”

Advice for the Next Generation of Interns

Both have clear advice for students considering applying for RELEX’s Supply Chain Analyst Internship.

“Be curious and get comfortable asking for help,” Natalia said. “Even the most senior consultants do that, it’s not about how much you know, but how fast you can learn.”

“Dive in, ask a ton of questions, and don’t wait for permission to try something,” Astha said. “You’ll get real projects, great people to learn from, and plenty of chances to grow. And have fun while you’re at it.”

What’s Next

For both Natalia and Astha, the internship was just the start. Today, they’re leading conversations with customers, shaping solutions, and helping new hires find their footing, just as others once did for them.

If you’re curious, collaborative, and ready to turn questions into solutions, this might be the place to start your own story. At RELEX, you’ll find a culture that values measurable impact, supports your growth, and believes that life – and work – are supposed to be fun.
