In this Employee Spotlight, we would like to introduce David Koch from our Technical Consultant team in Germany.
Career path to technical consulting
David joined RELEX in September 2021 and has quickly become embedded in the organization, delivering value in a highly specialist role.
“The constant will to improve and the positive working atmosphere are the best things about working at RELEX” says David, one of the Technical Consultants in our DACH Team.
Before joining RELEX, David had already gained three years of experience in Business Intelligence at a tools manufacturer in the automotive industry, where he learned how to deal with ETL processes (Extract, Transform, Load), interfaces, and databases. He quickly developed a desire to move from the “old-school” automotive sector to an innovative industry, wanting his new employer to be flexible and have modern practices. In RELEX, David found that and more. Among the five RELEX values, David’s favorite is Life is supposed to be fun because “fun is the biggest driver of energy and motivation.”
A typical day in life?
As a Technical Consultant at RELEX, David has a variety of tasks: the technical setup and coordination of projects, the specification of interfaces between customer systems and the RELEX software, or data integration of several gigabytes every day.
“There is no such thing as a ‘typical’ workday—every day is different. However, my main tasks are internal and external communication, conceptual design and implementation, as well as analysis and documentation.”
What David finds exciting about his work as a Technical Consultant is that “we build the foundation for further processes and value creation at our customers. You also see and understand how data from everyday life is collected and processed.”
David has acquired many skills while working as a Technical Consultant that will help him advance in his career. For example, he has learned to understand complex topics and structure them into manageable packages. Because he is empowered to do so, he has also learned how to conduct customer meetings and prepare and lead workshops, giving him the necessary experience to help further his career.

David has a tip for applicants interested in working at RELEX: “Don’t be afraid to ask questions—everyone here really does try to help. And don’t hold back on questioning existing processes either: feedback and suggestions are always welcome.”
