We are now looking for a Lead AI Engineer for our AI Automation team!
AI is transforming how RELEX works: automating workflows, boosting productivity, and improving quality. We’re now scaling internal AI automation from initial success to production infrastructure across 2000 RELEXians, with focus on RELEX customer operations.
You’ll be our tech lead and first engineer of the new internal AI Automation team – the technical owner who evaluates platforms, architects systems, and builds high-impact automations while AI Solution Architects discover solutions and drive adoption with stakeholders. This is a position that focuses on technical leadership rather than people management.
What you’ll be doing:
- Deploy and operate our automation platform. Get our AI workflow automation platform (e.g. n8n or Agent Builder) running in production for various use cases.
- Build the first AI automations. Ship solutions for RELEX customer implementation projects, support, technical consultancy, release processes, and integrations.
- Architect our internal agentic AI system. Own technical design leveraging patterns from our Rebot team (customer-facing agentic system) while building on off-the-shelf components.
- Set technical direction. Choose technologies, design architectures, establish engineering standards.
- Shape the engineering team. You will have strong influence on next 1-3 engineering hires for this team.
This is what success looks like in this role:
- Platform and first AI automation is operational within 3 months
- 10+ AI automations running reliably by year one
- Teams build automations independently, while centrally governed
What you’ll bring to the table:
- 6+ years building and operating production systems. You ship code and run what you build.
- Platform thinking. Experience with workflow platforms, integration tools, or orchestration systems (e.g., n8n, Airflow, LangChain, or similar).
- Integration expertise. You built system integrations with auth/monitoring/error handling.
- Strong hands-on engineering mindset focused on platform setup, production reliability, and delivery.
- A generalist approach. You are comfortable working across systems, technologies, and domains.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills. You are able to work with AI Solution Architects, IT, operations teams, and other, non-technical stakeholders.
- Pragmatic about AI. There are several types of AI: rule based, analytical, generative and agentic AI. You use them all in your workflows.
