(Lead) Frontend Architect for the Design System Team

We at RELEX are looking for a talented (Lead) Frontend Architect to help us guide, develop and maintain our inner source Design System called Fragments.

This is not just a coding role — it’s a chance to drive cross-company frontend architecture, define best practices, and lead the evolution of our Design System to new heights. You’ll work at the intersection of design, engineering, and product, influencing how RELEX teams ship fast, consistent, and user-centric solutions at scale.
What You’ll Do:
- Own the architecture and technical direction of our Design System and its adoption across product teams
- Act as a facilitator and decision maker in product, design system and company level frontend architectural strategy and alignment discussions
- Communicate and document architectural decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Contribute turning the architectural design into reality by supporting the teams building the solutions using TypeScript and React
- Build and guide the evolution of foundational components (like Data Tables, Modals, Form patterns) that impact dozens of teams
- Shape and enforce coding standards, patterns, and contribution practices that support scalable, maintainable code.
- Mentor and guide engineers contributing to the Design System and champion knowledge sharing
The role encompasses both strategic oversight and hands-on collaboration with development teams to ensure that the Design System evolves in line with customer expectations and technical best practices
We’re looking for:
- 8+ years of professional experience in front-end development with a focus on scalable, maintainable, high-performance components. Experience with a design system is a must.
- Proficiency in TypeScript, React, Storybook, and RTI/Jest
- Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills, with the ability to facilitate decision making and clearly explain architectural choices to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Proactive, strategic thinker who can identify technical risks and propose scalable solutions early on
- Comfortable making and owning decisions that have long-term impact on design and engineering practices
- Ability to balance long-term system thinking with short-term product needs
- Ability to design and guide implementation of flexible, composable, and well-documented component APIs
- Experience of working with agile methodologies and cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with Figma, keyboard navigation, and responsive design best practices
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of frontend architecture, who can confidently drive system-wide decisions, align cross-functional teams, elevate the technical foundation of our Design System and have an impact to the companywide frontend architecture.
