In response to our fast growth and market expansion, we are looking for a Lead Site Reliability Engineer to join our Compute Site Reliability Engineering team in Helsinki. You will help us scale and harden our self-managed, multi-continent compute fleet (currently ~600 servers, growing towards 2030) through pragmatic automation and strong technical leadership.
What we need you to do and be
Bring your ideas. Challenge ours. Grow with us.
You will work with the Private Cloud Compute SRE team responsible for our self-managed, multi-continent private cloud data centers and compute fleet. Your work spans OS lifecycle, configuration standards, fleet automation, and reliability/security improvements in a self-managed data center environment. You will also collaborate closely with other private cloud teams, the network operations center, and plan engineering sub-departments such as performance testing and databases.
You will support the reliability, security, and scalability of our compute platform by leading improvements in enterprise Linux operations (with a strong focus on Red Hat Linux), OS configuration, and automation. You’ll act as a strong technical partner to the manager in technical decisions, roadmap scoping, and setting practical standards that help the team scale.
You will contribute to increasing our automation and development focus over time by delivering improvement plans (RFCs), actively contributing to the codebase, and raising team quality through reviews and coaching. On-call is not mandatory; participation is voluntary.
What you’ll bring to the table
Our five values are our playbook. We speak up when things don’t make sense. We stop doing what doesn’t add value. We stay curious, back each other up, and make space for both innovation and laughter.
- Experience in enterprise Linux environments, ideally with Red Hat (RHEL), including troubleshooting, monitoring, package management, OS installation, and secure configuration in large-scale setups
- Ability to lead technically through architecture decisions, RFCs, and setting standards—while staying hands-on in code and automation
- Skills in automation and configuration management, with strong Ansible proficiency (our main tool) and solid GitHub/GitLab workflows
- Experience in operating and scaling self-managed, multi-continent data center environments (or similarly complex private infrastructure)
- Familiarity with Java-based workloads in production environments
- Comfortable with using AI in your everyday work and developing the use of AI tools as a larger organizational strategy
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- As a bonus, we consider experience with Python, Terraform, Kubernetes exposure, experience of working with an international team, plus great communication and organizational skills, and Finnish language skills
What we offer in return
You’ll be supported and given the space to thrive. We offer meaningful work, flexibility, and a culture that backs you to share your voice and be authentic.
- An international career and learning opportunities
- A rapidly growing and financially robust software company with exciting opportunities for career growth, also in the future
- RELEX key benefits
- Flexibility in how you work (while being based in Helsinki)
- Room to thrive in a fast-growing global company with a good market position
- Practical benefits that support work, family, wellness, and everyday life
- Annual leave
- Diverse, inclusive, and supportive work culture
- Work that meaningfully reduces waste and improves sustainability
- Ownership, autonomy and flat hierarchies
- Two paid volunteering days each year
We are a global community of different cultures, voices, and experiences. We celebrate what makes us unique and connect through what we share, in an authentic and safe environment. Together we shape the future, and each other.
Please note that to be considered for this position, you must be fluent in English, be based in Helsinki and hold a valid work permit for Finland. We’re excited to connect with applicants who meet these criteria and share our passion to do hard things, trust each other, and build what’s next for the product, the planet, and the people.
