The People team at RELEX currently consists of 60+ professionals located in several countries globally, the majority in Helsinki. To reach our growth plans and to ensure we serve our RELEXians to the best possible level, we are now looking for a full-time Senior People Operations Specialist to join our People team and take care of our Latin American countries.
As our Senior People Operations Specialist in Mexico, you will play a pivotal role in establishing the HR function for our new entity as well as day to day management of people related functions across LATAM. This is a unique opportunity to shape the employee experience, build a strong company culture from the outset, and ensure our operations in Mexico are built on a solid HR foundation. You will be responsible for developing and implementing HR/People policies, procedures, and programs that align with RELEX’s global values and local Mexican labor laws. This role requires a proactive individual with strong organizational skills, a deep understanding of local HR best practices, and the ability to navigate the complexities of setting up a new HR function in a new market, with a focus on the core HR infrastructure.
What you’ll be doing:
- Establish HR Infrastructure: Partner with the local business leaders to develop and implement foundational HR policies, procedures, and processes tailored to the Mexican context, covering areas such as onboarding frameworks, compensation and benefits administration, employee relations, and HRIS / payroll set up.
- Full employee life cycle support, from onboarding to offboarding and everything in between.
- Supporting our team leads with team members in LATAM with all of their HR and people-related topics, as e.g. policy, time-off, benefits, compensation and other questions.
- Responsible for Payroll input preparation and auditing.
- Manage payroll for all LATAM Employees and Contractors either through PEO or local payroll in Mexico.
- HR system updates and associated employee data quality management.
- Supporting in the writing and maintenance of people policies, team lead guides and training sessions for team leads.
- Compensation and Benefits: Research and establish a competitive compensation and benefits package that is compliant with local regulations and attractive to top talent in Mexico. Manage the administration of these programs.
- Handling employee escalation cases – Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Address employee grievances and provide guidance on HR-related issues.
- Working closely with local leadership and local partners, e.g. payroll and legal, to ensure that HR operations in your functions are running smoothly and compliantly.
- Collaboration: Work closely with global HR teams and local leadership to ensure consistency and alignment of HR practices.
What you’ll bring to the table:
- Proven experience (5+ years) as an Senior HR professional, with specific experience in setting up and then managing HR functions in new entities or markets, preferably in Mexico.
- Solid knowledge of Mexican labor laws, regulations, and payroll regulations (e.g., ISR, IMSS, INFONAVIT).
- Experience in developing compensation and benefits packages for the Mexican market and their administration.
- Experience in managing the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, performance management, compensation and benefits administration, and payroll processing.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong organizational and project management skills. Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills.
- Experience working withing HRIS platforms, including payroll modules or integrations.
- Experience maintaining payroll and payroll records.
- Fluency in both Spanish and English is essential.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
