Finnish sports retail chain Budget Sport implements RELEX’ technology to automate replenishment ordering in its 10 stores
The use of RELEX’ automatic replenishment will allow Budget Sport to free up time and resources as well as minimize capital tied-up in inventory; two areas in which Budget Sport was looking for additional support for their current SAP ERP system in order to increase efficiency in their supply chain.
Offering a wide range of sports goods, Budget Sport operates 10 stores and an online store, as well as one distribution center. Being able to speak with other RELEX users played a key part in the decision to start using RELEX. Budget Sport is owned by Kesko, a Finnish trading company that operates in grocery trade, building and technical trade and car trade. Kesko has close to 2000 stores engaged in its chain operations across Scandinavia, Baltics, Poland and Russia, parts of which already use RELEX Solutions.
Budget Sport selected RELEX to reduce the massive amount of manual work around replenishment. Forecasting and replenishment had previously been done manually with Excel, based on previous years’ sales and staff expertise. RELEX and the team at Budget Sport introduced new replenishment processes, enabling the company to automate most of its order proposals. The new automated processes will allow each of the buyers to focus on specific product categories, and manage exceptions, an area that needs their extra attention.
“We are really excited about the fact that RELEX can automate a lot of our processes. There is great potential to improve the quality of our replenishment operations,” says Mikko Laakso, Chain Director at Budget Sport. “We will save time and resources which we can then allocate to other important tasks.”
“We were really happy when Budget Sports approached us and are looking forward to rolling out the RELEX solution in order to increase efficiency in their replenishment processes,” says Jon-Erik Lindén, Project Manager from RELEX.
