Unified forecasting and replenishment will help Carrefour Italy progress towards excess stock reduction, improve availability, and better respond to local demand for both food and non-food products

Carrefour Italy (GS SpA), one of the leading retailers in the country, has chosen RELEX Solutions to enhance forecasting and replenishment across its network of approximately 1,200 stores, including proximity stores, supermarkets, hypermarkets, and 7 logistics hubs. This initiative is part of the company’s strategy to become a Digital Retail Company by 2026, also through a more intelligent and digitized supply chain management.

The decision marks a shift away from a system based on customized tools and manual processes, which will facilitate consistent planning and timely decision-making. By adopting a unified platform, Carrefour will be able to streamline daily operations and gain greater visibility across the entire supply chain, with a particular focus on fresh products, where speed and accuracy are critical.

“Every day, we work to respond more quickly to our customers’ evolving needs, while striving to minimize waste,” said Alessandra Iacovelli, CIO | IT, Data, Security & Digital Transformation Director at Carrefour Italy. “With RELEX, we are ready to further improve these processes, enhancing customer satisfaction across all our sales channels, increasing forecast accuracy, and optimizing our replenishment operations. This tool also enables us to continue reducing our environmental impact, one of the four public benefit goals defined in our Benefit Corporation charter.”

Carrefour chose RELEX for its ability to manage all product categories within a single platform and for its proven expertise in handling short-shelf-life products. The solution also enables the adoption of advanced planning methods, such as recipe-based forecasting, which helps Carrefour coordinate demand for ingredients and products while minimizing waste.

“Carrefour Italia is taking a significant step toward building a more integrated and responsive supply chain,” said Jason Berry, Senior Vice President, EMEA, RELEX Solutions. “We are proud to support their teams in reducing waste, strengthening availability, and creating more space for locally sourced products that reflect Carrefour’s values.”
