Nordic Nest Hatches Plan with RELEX to Handle Growth

Oct 10, 2019 2 min

Scandinavian interior design retailer aims to boost service and automation levels through better demand forecasting, replenishment, inventory and promotion planning.

Nordic Nest, a fast-growing online retailer specializing in homeware from designers across the Nordic region, has chosen RELEX Solutions to support its retail planning as it continues to expand.

The company offers more than 20 000 Scandinavian design products from over 200 brands on its 10 different websites worldwide. With annual turnover up 80% at €30M in 2018 and with strong anticipated annual growth, Nordic Nest realized that its expansion wouldn’t be sustainable with its existing manual planning and forecasting processes.

The retailer’s CEO, Bank Bergström, wanted to tailor Nordic Nest’s planning and forecasting for each of its websites and automate most of its ordering. The objective: better communication with colleagues and suppliers and good, year-round availability, especially during promotions.

“Rapid growth is the best sort of challenge to have,” says Andreas Elmqvist, Nordic Nest’s CPO. “But it means that we need to have efficient processes in place, or we risk hitting a wall. Demand forecasting and retail planning are key components in making sure we maintain operational efficiency, so bringing in a system that can support our supply planners was a priority for our future growth.”

We’re looking to RELEX for a system that allows us to scale, gives us full visibility over our operations and leaves our people free to problem-solve creatively.

“We’re looking to RELEX for a system that allows us to scale, gives us full visibility over our operations and leaves our people free to problem-solve creatively rather than focus on routine administrative tasks.”

“At RELEX we get some of the best problems to solve in retail,” says RELEX Project Manager Mia Lindh. “The fast growth that Nordic Nest is experiencing presents us with the kind of challenge we love getting our teeth into. It’s great to be able to play a part in setting up for the next phase of their development.”
