Petco México to strengthen space and category management to improve store execution and connect merchandising with forecasting and replenishment

Petco México is expanding its use of RELEX to improve its space and category management processes. This expansion builds on Petco México’s decision in 2025 to improve forecasting and replenishment with RELEX as the company continues to grow its store network and e-commerce channel. The project will be supported by implementation partners Athena and Sintec, who bring deep experience in retail transformation and will help ensure a fast, coordinated rollout.

Petco México operates more than 157 stores with an assortment that varies widely by category and store format. Space decisions directly influence availability and sales, so the company needs planograms that reflect actual demand and the pace at which products like food, treats, and toys move. With roughly 5,000 SKUs supported by two distribution centers, a more connected approach to space and supply chain planning will help reduce space-related stockouts, improve shelf accuracy, and make it easier for customers to find the items they rely on.

By adding RELEX’s space and category management capabilities, including unified planogram optimization, planogram and floor plan delivery, and streamlined review and editing workflows, Petco México will be able to create store-specific planograms based on real on-hand inventory and demand. This expansion supports their goal of connecting merchandising and supply chain planning in a single platform, improving both store execution and product availability.

“As we continue expanding across Mexico, we need planning tools that help us create accurate, store-ready planograms based on the inventory we have in each location,” said Armando Lopez, Commercial Director, Petco México. “Expanding with RELEX strengthens our planning foundation and helps us present the right products in the right way for our pet parents.”

“Petco México continues to make smart, forward-looking investments in unified planning,” said Carlos Victoria, Senior Vice President for the Americas at RELEX Solutions. “Adding space and category management strengthens their ability to connect merchandising and supply chain decisions, helping improve availability, reduce manual work, and support consistent store presentation as they grow.”
