Byggmax Chooses RELEX with Aim of Being World’s Best Builders Merchant

Byggmax, a leading builder’s merchant in Sweden, has chosen RELEX supply chain management system to improve the efficiency of the replenishment to its central warehouses and 120 stores in Sweden, Norway and Finland.

Byggmax replenishment is managed by a single replenishment team based at its headquarters. Before introducing the RELEX solution, it calculated forecasts and made order proposals with the help of an older software integrated into the company’s ERP system. However, to meet the complex and constantly evolving customers’ needs, and support its vision of becoming the world’s best builders merchant, Byggmax decided it needed a more advanced and more powerful supply chain planning software.

Byggmax compared several different SCM solutions. RELEX’s solution for forecasting and automated replenishment was judged the best because it surpassed all the functionality, configuration and performance criteria. “We found a system that is easy to work with and very transparent,” said Erik Börjesson, IT manager at Byggmax. “The solution works across the whole organization, for the logistics team right through to colleagues actually placing orders.”

Byggmax also wanted to find a system that was sufficiently technically advanced and flexible to support both its current and future needs. “In order to survive in today’s fast-growing and fast-changing environment, SCM solutions must be simple to understand, easy to work with and manage a huge volume of calculations,” Börjesson explains. “That is exactly what we expect of RELEX.”

Mikael Wiklund, sales manager at RELEX, says Börjesson and his colleagues at Byggmax showed an impressive degree of professionalism in the way they managed the whole procurement process prior to an agreement being signed.

“It will be fascinating working with the Byggmax team as it moves to the next stage where RELEX will be helping to improve its daily operations, maintain a resource-efficient organization and ensure that its customers get building materials of the highest possible quality at the lowest possible price!” Wiklund says.
