RELEX’s UK team celebrated with client JJ Food Service Ltd. at the UK’s top awards for excellence in food retail and wholesale.
JJ Food Service Ltd., the first company in Britain to use RELEX systems, was a finalist in the ‘Business Initiative of the Year’ category for the implementation project it carried out with RELEX to overhaul its forecasting and replenishment.
During the pilot, carried out with RELEX in summer 2013, JJ’s inventory was cut 15%, its non performing ranges reduced, and availability of slow moving items and fresh food lines was improved by ten percentage points, all without any increase in stock levels. The wholesaler was particularly pleased by a 25% cut in staff replenishment work, which rose to 50% just weeks after the pilot ended.
JJ, was also named ‘Wholesaler of the Year’ at The Grocer Gold Awards 2014 held on Tuesday at London’s Guildhall.
“We’re hugely honoured to be chosen as ‘Wholesaler of the Year,’ and a finalist in the Business Initiative category for the improvements to our supply chain management we achieved with RELEX,” says Mushtaque Ahmed, COO of JJ Food Service Ltd. “It’s been an exciting year. We’ve made great strides and RELEX has been a key partner in our continued evolution.”
Tommi Ylinen, Managing Director of RELEX UK, paid tribute to JJ Food Service Ltd. “It was a privilege to have been at the ceremony to celebrate with the JJ team. I can say with complete conviction that this award is thoroughly deserved. The quality of leadership and teamwork we found there is outstanding. The company has been an exemplary partner. It has embraced innovation and change to an extraordinary degree.”
