Müller Expands AI-Driven Retail Strategy with RELEX and infiniteVIU

Oct 7, 2025 3 min

The German retail brand house with the widest product range in German retail is increasing its investment in RELEX to improve product availability, reduce waste, and optimize operations.

Müller, the German-based retail group, is intensifying its collaboration with RELEX Solutions and partner infiniteVIU. Müller is introducing RELEX Diagnostics, expiry-date (best-before date)–based replenishment, and machine learning (ML)–based forecasting, while also optimizing shelf placement, promotions, and pricing strategies, with the goal of increasing product availability, optimizing inventory, and reducing write-offs caused by expiry dates. As part of the expanded partnership, Müller will also gain access to advanced solutions for shelf planning, promotions, and pricing. Partner infiniteVIU will provide ongoing service, implementation, and integration of new modules.

Müller is one of Europe’s leading retailers and department store operators, offering a full range of products. With more than 950 stores and a wide assortment of around 190,000 items, including about 7,000 private-label products, Müller covers all areas of daily needs and offers one of the broadest selections in drugstore, beauty, and non-food categories. These include perfumery, stationery, toys, household goods, natural cosmetics, organic food, gourmet products, hosiery, handicraft items, entertainment, and an integrated pet shop. The cooperation with RELEX began in 2018 with the rollout of forecasting and replenishment solutions for stores; in 2021, these solutions were extended to distribution centers (DCs).

Building on this successful collaboration, Müller now plans to further expand RELEX’s AI-powered capabilities to significantly improve supply chain efficiency and operational performance. With ML-based forecasting, Müller will be able to tailor assortment planning even more precisely to customer demand, even under complex demand patterns and influencing factors such as promotions, weather, seasonality, or weekdays. This results in more accurate, transparent forecasts. The introduction of expiry-date–based replenishment will further optimize inventory management and flow of goods for perishable products, ensuring order quantities and timings are intelligently aligned with product shelf life.

“Our long-standing partnership with RELEX and infiniteVIU has been key in achieving full transparency and responsiveness across our supply chain, while making the most of the platform’s many capabilities,” says Claudio Angeletti, Head of RELEX Store Replenishment & Shelf Management, Müller. “AI-powered forecasting and our joint early warning system help us detect disruptions early and respond quickly, reducing expiry-related write-offs and stabilizing inventory,” adds Raffaele Muoio, Head of RELEX Warehouse Replenishment, Müller.

RELEX Diagnostics enables Müller to make informed, data-driven decisions by revealing the root causes of stock-outs and expiry-related write-offs. With these insights, Müller gains a clear view of supply chain performance, allowing inefficiencies to be identified, bottlenecks resolved, and operations proactively optimized.

With this new implementation, Müller can achieve key goals: higher product availability, better management of seasonal demand peaks, lower inventory levels, and reduced expiry-related write-offs. The scalable, flexible RELEX platform seamlessly integrates advanced technologies into existing systems and processes, driving innovation and delivering measurable improvements across the organization.

“Working with Müller over the past four years has been extremely valuable. We have seen firsthand how the RELEX platform has improved Müller’s processes, and we look forward to further enhancing supply chain performance in the next phase of implementation. With our deep understanding of Müller’s business needs, we can deliver tangible, measurable results. Our continuous service model goes beyond daily operational support: it also includes coaching Müller’s team to ensure complete transparency across all supply chain processes from active inventory management to seasonal control solutions and strategic warehouse planning throughout the business year,” says Stefan Ettl, Founder and Managing Director of infiniteVIU.

“We are very excited to continue our successful partnership with Müller and to support the company on its journey toward a future-oriented retail landscape. This next phase of cooperation not only reflects the strength of our partnership, but also Müller’s clear commitment to using innovative, AI-powered solutions to respond flexibly and proactively to the dynamic demands of the market,” says Michael Hoffmann, Senior Vice President Sales DACH at RELEX Solutions.
