POCO to Optimize Multi-Echelon Replenishment Across their Assortment with RELEX

Discount furniture retailer improves availability, reduces inventory, and manages goods flows across 132 locations, from bulky furniture to fast-moving take-away items

POCO, the leading German discount furniture and home furnishings retailer, has selected RELEX Solutions to replace its existing planning system and further develop forecasting and replenishment across its supply chain network. POCO is replacing its current replenishment tool during ongoing operations with the RELEX solution, as it enables an integrated end-to-end approach across the entire supply chain and allows for consistent execution. The implementation is supported by RELEX partner Wysupp, which brings extensive experience in furniture retail supply chain planning, particularly in multi-echelon warehouse structures and highly heterogeneous, broad assortments.

POCO operates 132 stores in Germany and manages an assortment with widely varying planning and inventory management requirements: on one side are bulky, space-intensive furniture items with longer lead times, project-driven purchasing behavior, and high space relevance. On the other side are small, fast-moving household and take-away items with higher frequency, different service level requirements, and significantly different inventory profiles. This combination requires a solution that clearly differentiates space requirements, turnover rates, and replenishment times by product category and coordinates inventory across central and regional warehouse levels through to stores and the online channel.

POCO will implement the AI-driven forecasting and replenishment solution from RELEX to support planning across central and regional warehouses, stores, and omnichannel fulfillment. The goal is to manage the differing assortment requirements in a targeted way: availability-driven replenishment for high-frequency items, coverage- and space-aware inventory management for bulky product categories, and better alignment between procurement, inventory levels, and store supply.

The solution helps POCO reduce overall inventory, increase inventory turnover, improve replenishment and purchasing decisions, and gain transparency into supplier performance (including delivery reliability, lead times, and service levels). Through advanced analytics and machine learning, planning decisions are supported across the entire chain, from procurement to goods receipt and warehouse processes through to store replenishment and customer delivery.

“The implementation at POCO is the logical continuation of our hands-on work in furniture retail. Implementations in the furniture and discount segment depend on a precise understanding of processes and assortment logic,” said Jörg Kriekhaus, CEO, Wysupp Germany. “That’s why we familiarized ourselves in detail with POCO’s requirements early on – especially the heterogeneity of the assortment, the different turnover rates and space requirements, as well as the multi-echelon warehouse and supply chain structure. This ensures that replenishment, procurement, and allocation are precisely aligned with POCO’s operational reality.”

“The furniture and home furnishings market has unique requirements: bulky items with long lead times meet fast-moving take-away and household goods – and both must be brought together in an integrated planning approach,” said Michael Hofmann, Senior Vice President Sales / Managing Director DACH, RELEX Solutions. “With RELEX, POCO is laying the foundation for more stable availability, more efficient inventory, and better decisions in a supply chain that must serve very different product worlds simultaneously.”
