RELEX Solutions and Booths – winners of ‘IT Team of the Year’ at the Retail Week’s Tech & Ecomm Awards and shortlisted in three categories for Retail Week’s Supply Chain Awards

RELEX Solutions and its customer Booths, the UK’s leading regional supermarket, were awarded the prize for the ‘IT Team of the Year’ at the recent BT Retail Week Tech and Ecomm Awards. Their joint success continues with the announcement today of being shortlisted in three categories: Innovation Project of the Year; Supply Chain Team of the Year; and Technology Initiative of the Year, in the Hermes Retail Week Supply Chain Awards.

Both awards recognise the impressive results RELEX and Booths have achieved together through their Supply Chain Transformation and Spoilage Reduction project.

The IT Team of the Year award sought to identify the IT department that has made the biggest difference to its business.

The Innovation Project of the Year looks for new ways of thinking in the retail supply chain to help keep with consumers’ ever changing demands and remain competitive.

Andrew Rafferty, IT and eCommerce Director at Booths, comments: “To win ‘IT team of the Year’ and be shortlisted in three further awards is a such great achievement for us and RELEX. We have a complex and varying supply chain with considerable inventory ranging from chilled and perishable to preservative free. We therefore needed an agile supply chain system that can support that complexity, help cut spoilage and manage our seasons and promotions more effectively. Implementing RELEX has resulted in spoilage being cut by 20% in the most difficult areas, 95% availability and spoilage down 10% across the board. We’re extremely proud that we are able to offer our customers the best possible state of freshness and to have the success of our IT project recognised in this way is fantastic.”

Tommi Ylinen, Managing Director at RELEX, comments: “I believe the Retail industry is seeing the start of a new approach to supply chain project delivery. Today’s levels of business innovation expected, and indeed required, of IT are unprecedented, and require a truly collaborative approach. One which is based not only on shared knowledge and best practice, but also shared risk and critically a shared vision to deliver, quite simply, a better way of doing business. These awards therefore rightly recognise Booths for its highly positive and innovative attitude to IT-led innovation.”
