Leading German organic retailer replaces legacy system with RELEX.

The dennree Group, the leading trading company for organic food in the German-speaking region has selected RELEX Solutions, provider of unified supply chain and retail planning solutions, for forecasting and replenishment, and space management capabilities. The dennree Group will replace their legacy system with RELEX to improve availability, reduce out of stocks, and ultimately, eliminate food waste.

As a marketplace for producers, retailers and customers, dennree offers a comprehensive range of organic products with more than 14,000 products from certified organic production. The trading company distributes to more than 1,200 organic markets in Germany, Austria, Luxembourg as well as South Tyrol through its own nationwide logistics system. This also includes the BioMarkt Group, an association of around 530 independent BioMarkt stores and Denns BioMarkt stores from Germany and Austria under the joint umbrella brand “BioMarkt”. In 2023, the company generated consolidated net sales of EUR 1.38 billion.

The dennree Group aims to reduce silos, enhance forecast accuracy, and automate replenishment processes with RELEX. These critical improvements align with the company’s commitment to sustainability and quality in the organic food and cosmetics market. This underlines the company’s commitment to resource-friendly management and the high quality of organic food, organic drugstore products and natural cosmetics.

“Our decision to transition away from our existing system to RELEX was driven by the need for a modern, integrated solution. Their capabilities align with our vision of reducing waste and enhancing overall efficiency in our supply chain operations,” said Michael Petersen, CIO, The dennree Group

With RELEX forecasting and replenishment and space management solutions, the dennree Group expects to reduce costs associated with spoilage and inventory, while improving product availability. They’ll also be able to identify clearance products and create targeted campaigns with optimal pricing at the conclusion of a product’s lifecycle, further adding to waste reduction.

Enhancing shelf availability and product freshness will also help boost sales for the organic food and cosmetics grocer. Overall, the dennree Group will not only increase forecast accuracy, they’ll gain a proactive approach to replenishment and retail supply chain planning to stay ahead in the dynamic and competitive organic market.

“The dennree Group’s decision to trust RELEX for their retail planning needs underscores our commitment to delivering value and helping to achieve their goals for the project,” said Michael Hoffmann, VP of Sales, DACH, RELEX. “We welcome the dennree Group as our first purely organic grocery customer in the DACH region, joining our stable of grocers worldwide with efficient, accurate supply chain planning and replenishment processes across fresh and center-store products.”
