Leading Swiss convenience retailer to replace space planning solution with RELEX and has also selected RELEX to improve and optimize forecasting and replenishment processes.

Valora, a leading convenience retailer in Switzerland with subsidiaries in Luxembourg and Germany, has selected RELEX Solutions, provider of unified supply chain and retail planning solutions, for space planning and forecasting and replenishment capabilities, to enhance availability, reduce waste and ultimately improve customer satisfaction. Wysupp, a RELEX partner, is managing the implementation for Valora.

Valora has 15,000 employees, 2,400 convenience stores, 3,400 SKUs and two distribution centers across Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Valora is also one of the world’s leading producers of pretzels and benefits from a well-integrated value chain in baked goods.

Valora will be replacing an existing space planning solution with RELEX, in concert with adding RELEX forecasting and replenishment capabilities for a unified approach to store planning, store operations, and supply chain. This will lead to an improved customer shopping experience, by utilizing store space productively and effectively, and through improved forecast accuracy and replenishment efficiency.

“With stores across several countries in several types of formats like railway stations, airports and urban areas, customer demand is quite specific within each, offering unique challenges. We needed a more sophisticated way to accurately forecast demand and replenish and plan store assortments appropriately,” said Dirk Mühlhäuser, CIO of Valora. “Choosing RELEX aligns with Valora’s strategy to improve the shopper experience by improving item availability while reducing waste and maximizing operational efficiency.”

With RELEX, Valora anticipates improving availability across a diverse range of assortments at each convenience store location, increasing margins, and decreasing food waste through the implementation of an advanced, AI-drive forecast accuracy and replenishment automation.

“We trust RELEX given their expertise specifically for convenience store retailers, combined with their unified approach to optimizing supply chain processes,” said Roger Vogt, CEO Retail, Valora. “RELEX’s regional expertise and strength aligns seamlessly with our unique operational requirements, with local complexities and dynamic customer demands.”

“We are committed to supporting Valora’s retail strategy, driving cost efficiency, optimizing return on sales, and strategically enhancing delivery processes,” said Wysupp CEO Jörg Kriekhaus. “We are pleased to support yet another RELEX customer in their journey towards making strategic and operational decisions.”

“We are proud to support Valora in achieving their goals, aiming to help them boost profitability, navigate complex assortments, and optimize available space through streamlined, automated, and unified retail planning processes,” said Michael Hoffmann, VP of Sales, DACH region, RELEX Solutions.
