Angulas Aguinaga Automates 80% of Demand Planning with RELEX

Food manufacturer reduces manual forecast adjustments and builds on demand planning progress

Angulas Aguinaga, a food manufacturer specializing in fish and seafood products, has automated 80% of its demand planning process with RELEX Solutions, reducing the level of manual intervention required from its planning team.

Managing approximately 4,000 SKUs, Angulas Aguinaga faces particularly complex demand patterns around promotions. Demand can fall before a promotion as customers delay purchases to take advantage of discounts, rise sharply during the promotional period, and remain disrupted after it ends. For the planning team, the challenge is anticipating these shifts while avoiding excess stock and spoilage once demand levels.

Angulas Aguinaga implemented forecasting capabilities from RELEX, going live within six months to reduce the manual effort involved in managing these patterns.

Today, 80% of the forecasted volume generated by RELEX is used without planner adjustment. The planning team only needs to modify around 20% of forecasts, allowing time to focus attention on situations that require additional judgment rather than routinely reviewing every forecast.

“What has stood out is the combination of technology, supply chain knowledge, and a strong working relationship,” said Marcos Atozqui, Data Manager at Angulas Aguinaga. “RELEX understands what we are trying to achieve and has worked closely with our team to help us get there.”

“Our partnership with Angulas Aguinaga has only grown stronger over time,” said Tiina Kanninen, SVP Customer Success EMEA at RELEX Solutions. “Continuous improvements led by our Value Development team have helped bring forecast usage to 80%, giving planners greater confidence in the forecasts generated by RELEX and reducing the need for manual adjustments.”

With demand planning processes now more automated, Angulas Aguinaga is turning its attention to production planning as its next area of focus.
