One Stop Unifies Store Execution with One AI-Orchestrated System from RELEX

British convenience retailer adds expiration management and markdown optimization, collapsing separate store execution tasks into a single platform

One Stop, the British convenience store retailer and subsidiary of Tesco plc is expanding their use of RELEX Solutions. One Stop will now use the RELEX unified AI-driven store application for expiration management and store markdown optimization. This builds on a partnership that began in 2010, with capabilities that will help the One Stop store teams reduce waste and improve margins on perishable and short dated products.

One Stop operates their convenience store network through a mix of franchise and company-owned stores. They use the unified RELEX platform for forecasting, replenishment, space, and assortment planning across 1,000+ stores and three distribution centers. They have high transaction volumes and fast-moving product mix that includes fresh items, and so store teams face the challenge of manually pricing down stock before it expires without losing margins.

The new expiration management and markdown optimization capabilities will take separate store execution workflows – markdown decisions, expiration/waste tracking and planogram execution into one AI-orchestrated application. This will run within the same unified platform, using RELEX’s forecasting engine.

The One Stop store team will have early visibility via a prioritized list of products that are approaching their sell-by date, along with the recommended discount levels and timing calculated from the same demand data used for ordering. The markdown decisions also feed back into replenishment forecasts, so ordering reflects what is happening on the shelves.

“We have built a strong foundation with RELEX over the years with meaningful results, and this next step lets us tackle a challenge that touches every store,” said Richard Turton, Head of Transformation, One Stop. “Getting markdown timing and depth right will help our store teams spend less time on manually tracking dates and provides us with the opportunity to continue to reduce waste.”

“We have expanded our AI capabilities within our unified store operation application to bring markdown and expiration management into the same platform as planogram delivery and store execution,” said Gaël Ramaen, SVP EMEA Strategic Business Transformation, RELEX Solutions. “For One Stop, that means one system guiding store teams through pricing, freshness, and shelf compliance, rather than switching between tools built for separate tasks.”
