RELEX Solutions has announced that Shell, the global energy company, has selected RELEX for AI-driven forecasting, replenishment, and store operations. The implementation will include fresh optimization, promotions and events planning, weather-based forecasting, fresh markdowns, and mobile replenishment for Shell’s UK Mobility & Convenience network.

Shell operates more than 550 convenience stores across its UK network under the Shell Select, Little Waitrose, and Co-op banners. They will now use RELEX for centralized, automated planning models through forecasting and replenishment capabilities.
RELEX provides capabilities that allow store teams to generate order proposals at the store level, accounting for fresh product lifecycle, promotional demand, and weather-driven sales patterns. They can then access and review those proposals directly through the RELEX mobile replenishment solution, with the ability to adjust before orders are confirmed. RELEX provides a connected approach that gives central teams visibility and control while preserving store-level flexibility, reducing waste, improving availability, and freeing up staff time for higher-value work.
“RELEX gives us the tools to plan smarter across our UK convenience network,” said Janine Albrecht Webb, UK General Manager, Shell Mobility & Convenience. “We are looking forward to the improvements this will bring to our store operations and customer experience.”
“Speed matters in a network like Shell’s, and we’re able to get them live and deliver value far faster than a transformation of this scale would normally take,” said Mikko Kärkkäinen, Co-founder and Group CEO at RELEX Solutions. “What makes that possible is putting AI at the core of their planning and store operations, not as an add-on, but as the engine driving forecasting, replenishment, and the day-to-day decisions in every store. That’s what will give Shell’s teams better tools and their customers a better experience.”
